Breaking material

Breaking material is normally wood, though individual Championship rules may allow other materials. Regardless of the competitor's rank, boards must be at least 1" thick, with minimum lengths that scale by age:

Illegal breaking techniques

Head breaks are illegal for every competitor, regardless of rank or age. Open-hand strikes are illegal for any competitor under the age of 18.

Holders

Ideally, contestants provide their own holders. When that's not possible, volunteers recruited from the competitors themselves may be used instead — but every holder must be an adult in official WTSDA dobohk.

Performance and judging criteria

1. Artistry of presentation: Breaks set up in an artistic manner, consideration given to the judges' sightline, and a presentation that flows between techniques.
2. Difficulty of technique: Judged in pairs, with the first item rated more difficult than the second: speed vs. power; multiple boards vs. single boards; unspaced boards vs. spacers; spinning techniques vs. basic techniques; jump/spinning techniques vs. spinning techniques.
3. Contestant's attitude/demeanor: Part of the overall impression, same as in hyung and other forms competition.
